Get to Know Us
Carraig Connections is a new Development Trust, created and led by the people of Carrick, South Ayrshire.
Formed in December 2024, Carraig Connections looks towards becoming a Scottish Charitable Incorporated Organisation (SCIO) by Spring 2025.

Carraig Connections aims to develop the economy, quality of life, and wellbeing of our community over time by focussing on elements including capital assets, a series of priority projects, cross community infrastructure and capacity building and training.

Our work has started, in line with funding, in North Carrick with a view to widening out to the wider Carrick region.

THE NORTH CARRICK MODEL
Proposals for a Development Trust came about following a successful funding application by North Carrick Community Benefit Company (NCCBC) which secured over £0.5m from the UK Government’s Community Renewal Fund. A “North Carrick Model” emerged, based on cross-community grass roots action leading to short, medium and longer term priorities.

FOUNDATIONS FOR RECOVERY
During an intensive six month “Foundations for Recovery” programme, community and business aspirations, ideas and proposals were converted into investment ready projects. Three areas of activity emerged – Heritage and Culture (with tourism emphasis), Enterprise and Retail. Therefore ambitions for Carrick will develop in line with these three areas.

STRENGTHENING COMMUNITIES
The Carraig Connections Business Plan 2024/2030 is set to be published in February 2025 and Carraig Connections aims to join the Development Trusts Association Scotland, a network of around 360 Scottish Development Trusts. Initial funding will include money from the Scottish Government's Strengthening Communities Fund via CEiS so that Carraig Connections can continue to develop the 'Heritage Enterprise Village' concept. This will be supplemented by other grant funding and, over time, we will develop income generating initiatives to reduce grant dependency.
